Are we alone in finding an increase in the use of text and email for important messages is
counter productive?
This week we have suffered a major embarrassment when a nurse who prefers using email agreed to
work, we responded by email giving instructions, the person then changed her mind and advised by email she
could not work. Unfortunately despite being received many times this particular email went into the spam box.
Result - the first we hear is no nurse attending a booking. We end up with egg all over our
reputation.
Whoever reads this take to heart that if an email is important and you are using outlook express
or similar one can ensure that the recipient has read the message by requesting a " Request read receipt" In
compose message sector use "Tools" and from the drop down hit "Request read receipt" then when the email is
opened the recipient is requested to confirm receipt
It is also far from certain that a text message will be delivered within seconds of
transmission. Many times a message can take an hour or two and on odd occasions twelve hours or more. Usually
Murphy’s Law prevails in these cases and yet again an important message arrives too late to be acted
upon.
Why do people prefer to text or mail? In our statistics the majority of text messages are from
someone pulling out of an assignment. It is much easier to text than to ring up and discuss the problem face
to face. Unfortunately we are also detecting an increase in screening telephone calls by recognizing the
number and our return call to discuss a problem is being ignored.
Yes, text in particular does have its place especially during the day. One can read a text
unobtrusively during a break in work and answer when convenient. But please if a message is important –
phone! Only this way can you be assured your message has got through.
We would be interested to receive your thoughts. Why not email us with your views and these will
be posted anonymously in the coming months.
We are pleased to announce our association with
Dentists Compare
Dentists Compare is a new company providing a niche comparison directory service generating new
business and providing a dental practice with a greater online presence. Molaris Dental Personnel
is very pleased to give its support to Dentists Compare and to this end has negotiated a discount with
Dentists Compare for any assignment they undertake on your behalf.
Market research has indicated that with increasing dependency on the internet, consumers have
become naturally disposed towards comparison. Dentists Compare aims to capitalise on the development of this
mind-set and has partnered with Molaris Dental Personnel to help spread the message that the future of
dental marketing is on-line. Dentists Compare is part of a larger organisation called
Compare-Marketing who have already been successful in the marketplace with www.lawyerscompare.com.
What makes Compare-Marketing’s sites unique is their Admin Zone. Practices that sign up to the
website are provided with a user name and password which provides detailed analytical information about their
listing. This ‘back end’ provides total transparency on investment with real-time information about the
number of times a profile has been viewed and the category of dentistry they have been searched by. They also
offer each practice an 0843 telephone number (calls charged at local rate) which redirects to the practice
landline: the reason for this is it allows them to track the number of calls received through the site. These
are just some of the unique features the service offers.
Take a look at www.dentistscompare.com to see
how their online marketing strategy can benefit your practice. Please, don’t hesitate to call on 0207 940
4133 and talk to an account manager and if you mention the name Molaris Dental Personnel when you speak to them they will give
you a discount on any listing you decide to accept.
